Lynn Schusterman and Prof. Rotstein unveil a dedication plaque as former MK Rabbi M Melchior looks on
Israel's first all-encompassing center for child and teen victims of sexual and physical abuse opened last March at Sheba, known as Beit Lynn. The center was supported and dedicated by the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation. Lynn Schusterman attended and spoke at the opening.
Based on a successful US model, Beit Lynn will provide abuse victims between the ages of three and 18 with a wide range of services and therapy, including social welfare and legal services. "This is the first center of its kind to be established in Israel, bringing together medical staff with other responders to provide the capacity to give treatment quickly and effectively in the most traumatic of cases," said Prof. Zeev Rotstein, Sheba CEO. Beit Lynn is expected to treat more than 700 children and teens a year from the area surrounding the hospital.
The Israel Police Force and representatives from the ministries of health, justice and education, staff the new center along with doctors and social workers – in an attempt to streamline the initial process rape victims must undergo.
