Lt. Aharon Karov was called up for service in Gaza the morning after his wedding and critically wounded in combat. Almost one year later, he saluted the doctors who nursed him back to health at the Sheba rehabilitation hospital – and he went home with his wife. |
As Israel embarked on Operation Cast lead in January 2009, platoon commander 2nd Lt. Aharon Karov, 22, was ordered to cut his leave short and report for duty in Gaza -- the morning after his wedding to Tzvia, 19. shortly afterwards he was mortally wounded by a Hamas landmine, and was not expected to live. He became the most seriously injured IDF soldier of the war.
One year later, Tzvia was at his side as he said goodbye to the doctors who rehabilitated him at the Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer. Aharon's doctors also agree his recovery is nothing short of miraculous.
