The Department of Dermatology treats all forms of skin diseases through our inpatient and outpatient services. When a skin condition requires hospitalization, our department has the facilities and staff to provide the inpatient care. Most of the department's hospital admissions consist of Erysipelas/Cellulitis, widespread allergic eruptions, Psoriasis, skin Lymphomas, and Autoimmune Blistering Diseases of the skin (Pemphigus/Bullous Pemphigoid).
In addition to hospitalized patients, we have a busy outpatient clinic with eight specialty units. Our Phototherapy Unit offers therapy in the Ultra-Violet Spectrum to patients with widespread Psoriasis, Atopic Dermatitis, Vitiligo, generalized Pruritus, and Mycosis Fungoides. We read all pathology slides from biopsies performed in our clinics as well as slides sent to us by Pathology laboratories throughout Israel in our Dermatopathology Unit. Our Dermato-Oncology Unit diagnosis, treats, and completes follow-ups for patients with melanocytic lesions (Nevi and Melanoma), non-melanocytic skin tumors, Kaposi's Sarcoma and Lymphomas of the skin.
In the field of contact Dermatitis, Atopic Dermatitis, and chronic Urticaria our Dermato-Allergology Unit works with the Allergology Unit. Through our Dermato-Pharmacology Unit, we collaborate in several clinical trials with drug companies concerning new drugs in Dermatology. Our Mycology Laboratory does KOH preparations and cultures of skin Fungi. And finally, we recognize the benefits of complementary medicine and offer treatment through Chinese Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture for all forms of skin diseases.
We operate a special clinic once a week to discuss "difficult cases" from the clinic or patients referred to us by other physicians. This clinic brings dermatologists working with health organizations throughout Israel together with our staff to discuss and debate the best medical treatment for these nontraditional and complicated cases.
