The Department of Emergency Medicine deals with the full spectrum of traumatic and medical emergencies, excluding childhood medical and gynecological/obstetrics problems. Our aim is to treat patients holistically, with one treating doctor responsible for overall care, and where necessary, coordinating a multi-disciplinary approach.
We are divided into a general 36 patient bedded area, 4 shock/trauma rooms, a "walk-in" clinic and a 12 bed overnight unit.
Since Sheba Medical Center's founding, we have played a central role in caring for the victims of mass casualty events.
We are actively involved in medical education and train hospital staff and community physicians in emergency care including cardiac life support. Students from Israel and abroad come to our department for their regular student and resident rotations in emergency medicine. The Department of Emergency Medicine's aim is to treat patients holistically with one treating doctor responsible for overall care. The treating doctor stays with the patient throughout the care process and coordinates a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment when necessary.
