The Institute of Gastroenterolgy and Liver Diseases specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the stomach, gut, liver and pancreas.
Our Endoscopy Unit is one of the most advanced and modern in the country incorporating the latest technology in standard endoscopic techniques. In our six-endoscopy rooms, we perform more than 10,0000 endoscopies annually including Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Enteroscopy, Endoscopic Endosonography (circular and linear for fine needle biopsies), Endoscopic Retrograde Pancreatography, and Capsule Endoscopy of the small bowel.
Patients diagnosed with malignant disease of the GI tract are treated by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of gastroenterologists, surgeons and oncologists.
Heartburn affects more than 25% of the population in Israel. In addition to diagnostic techniques such as Gastroscopy, manometric studies and 24-hour pH monitoring, innovative therapeutic strategies are applied in the treatment of patients suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease. The institute is the first center in Israel that offers non-surgical, endoscopic treatment, STRETTA, to this category of patients as well as photodynamic therapy to patients with Barrett's Esophagus.
Our Institute is one of the largest centers for the treatment of Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis patients in Israel. Patients are seen in our outpatients clinic by gastroenterologists specialized in the field of inflammatory disorders of the gut. Our center participates in many frontline trials involving innovative new therapies for patients with disease not responding to standard treatment. Patients in need of intensive follow up and intravenous treatment can be treated in a day care setting, thus circumventing hospitalization.
Our liver diseases service is staffed with specialists in liver diseases and is the heart of an updated setup for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of an array of liver and bile duct diseases.
A person's diet is inseparable from disease of the GI tract. We provide dietary counseling to patients suffering from gastrointestinal disease obesity, as well as to malnourished patients due to non-GI disorders.
Our institute is affiliated with Tel Aviv University and is involved in education of medical students and residents in the fields of medicine and gastroenterology.
