The Institute of Nephrology and Hypertension offers a full consultative service for the evaluation of patients with acute and Chronic Kidney Disease, Fluid and Electrolyte Disorders, Hypertension, and Kidney Stone Disease. Through our outpatient clinics and services, we treat all manner of kidney disease.
Our Renal Clinic services patients with primary renal disease or kidney involvement in multi-system disorders. We offer consultation and care for electrolyte and acid-base disorders and conduct renal biopsies on a routine basis for Proteinuria and Nephrotic Syndrome. One of the clinic's special programs is the evaluation and treatment of pre-dialysis patients and Chronic Kidney Disease remission with the support of nephrology-specific dietitians and social workers.
We provide consultative services for patients with Hypertension. We are regularly involved in investigative studies of new agents for the treatment of Hypertension. Our Nephrology Division is particularly interested in Reno-Vascular Hypertension and works closely with the Division of Vascular Surgery and Invasive Angiography Services to provide comprehensive management for patients. The Molecular Nephrology and Hypertension Laboratory is providing a PCR- based diagnosis of Glucocorticoid- Remediable Hypertension (GRA) Fabry's Disease, Dent's Disease and other genetic kidney diseases.
Our nephrolithiasis practice works closely with the Sheba Lithotripsy Center to provide comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and long-term management for patients with all forms of renal calculi.
Our renal transplantation service evaluates adult candidates for renal transplantation on an outpatient basis. The divisions of Nephrology and Transplant Surgery manage transplant patients jointly.
Our Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis Service provides on-site outpatient, acute and chronic hemodialysis, home dialysis training, automated and non-automated peritoneal dialysis, and follow-up care for end-stage renal disease patients.

Director - Prof. Eliezer Holtzman

Prof. Eli Holtzman, graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Sackler School of Medicine at the Tel Aviv University in 1978.
From 1985-87, he was a Clinical and Research Fellow in Hypertension, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. Also, from 1987-92 he was a Clinical and Research Fellow in Nephrology, Renal Unit, Department of Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA.
From 1992-95, he was the attending physician for the Renal Unit of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Harvard Medical School, and a member, Renal Associates Clinic, MGH. From 1995-98 he was attending Physician, Department of Medicine, Renal section, SUNY-HSC at Syracuse, NY and in 1995-98 a member, Internal Medicine Service Group, SUNY-HSC
Since 1999, he has been the Director of the Nephrology and Hypertension Institute at Sheba Medical Center.
In 1994, he was appointed Assistant Professor in Medicine, at Harvard Medical School, and In 1995 he became Associate Professor in Medicine, State University of New York (SUNY)-Health Science Center at Syracuse and Associate Professor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, State University of New York (SUNY)-Health Science Center at Syracuse
Since 2000, he has been an Associate Professor in Medicine, Tel Aviv University, Sackler School of Medicine.
He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine (1990) and of Nephrology (1992). |
