The Department of Neurology at the Sheba Medical Center integrates skillfully the fields of Neurology, Pediatric Neurology, Neurosurgery, Imaging, Electrophysiology, Pathology and Genetics into a comprehensive facility, to offer the most advanced treatment and prevention strategies for patients with nervous system diseases.
Statistics suggest that most people, at some time during their life, will be affected by neurological disease or have a serious neurological complication secondary to another disease. Hence, the Department of Neurology consists of several sub specialty wings.
Our General Neurology Wing offers--along with inpatient services--a vital link in providing care for patients with neurological disease and utilizes the many diagnostic advancements such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), functional imaging, electrophysiological tests and genetic testing.
Through our Stroke Wing, we provide a holistic approach to treating patients who have suffered strokes through physiotherapy, occupational therapy, conventional medications, and surgery for secondary prevention of further strokes. Our Stroke Wing includes Doppler laboratories, examination rooms, research rooms, and staff rooms. In addition, we are the first Stroke Service in Israel to offer a treatment option of acute artery opening for clotted arteries with the new drug tPA.
Our Parkinson's Disease Institute offers treatment and care for patients suffering from Parkinson's Disease.
We are a leader in the field of Epilepsy with one of the most prominent Israeli authorities on Epilepsy heading our Epilepsy and Electroencephalograph Unit.
We have facilities for electromyography and nerve conduction electrophysiological tests (EMG).
We have a major center for electromyography, nerve conduction electrophysiological tests (ENG) and neuromuscular disease.
