Spinal Surgery Service

We offer comprehensive treatment programs for various disorders of the whole spinal column and spinal cord, in both adults and children. These include:

 

  • Degenerative disorders of the spinal column, including Disc Herniation (The service is the leading referral center for Cervical Spine surgery in Israel)
  • Tumors of the spine and spinal cord, including primary and metastatic tumors of the spine, intradural tumors and intramedullary tumors.
  • Trauma to the spinal column, with spinal cord compression and instability, including the more demanding approaches to the Occiput-C2 region.

 

Three hundred spinal operations are performed annually. Spinal cord injured patients are medically and surgically treated with the latest protocols in the Intensive Care Unit until transferred to the Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Center.

 

A phase I study on the application of Autologous Acticated Macrophages to the injured cord in acute spinal cord injury is currently being conducted by the service (the first and only site in the world).
 
Other research includes congenital disorders of the spine in both adults and children and Inflammatory spinal conditions, both chronic and acute.
