Rehabilitation is a complex process of restoration of a previous state following a major change due to Oncological Resection, Trauma, Hostile Activity or other degenerative process.
Congenital malformations or orthognathic surgery are sometimes another reason for seeking assistance of a maxillofacial prosthodontist. There are few regions in the body where these mutilations are more significant to the patient's ability to feed and conduct normal social behavior than the head and the neck.
To restore the physical state and quality of life to acceptable levels often requires major professional efforts, time and expense. Cooperative approach by various experts is always required in each case, be it oral and maxillofacial surgeon, plastic or ENT surgeon, Head and Neck oncologist, orthodontist and social welfare executive. Besides various reconstructive grafts, non-living restorative materials are utilized as well by the dental laboratory to achieve the goal of rehabilitation. The age of patients varies from newly born to elderly people. More than 80% of the patient population in the clinic is treated for oncologic reasons. Intra oral devices are not infrequently constructed through utilizing dental implants. The "Health Basket" provided by the national health insurance law covers procedures performed after ablative oncologic resections in the head and neck structures.
Care and personal attention is given to each and every person treated by the staff of the clinic. Follow-up visits are scheduled with the close cooperation of other disciplines, for as long as needed upon completion of the active phase of treatment.
Every year several dozens of new patients are treated in the clinic.
