The high rate of mortality can be reduced only by early diagnosis and early treatment. Precancerous lesions must be closely observed and followed-up, as they can transform into Cancer; delayed diagnosis reduces the survival rate.
Many systemic and dermatological diseases manifests in the mouth, sometimes even as the first presenting sign.
