The Orthognatic Clinic treats patients with congenital or acquired (post traumatic, iatrogenic) deformities of the oral and maxillofacial region, such as alveolar and palatal cleft, facial asymmetry, malposition of the malar bone and of the upper and lower jaws and of the chin.
The Outpatient Clinic provides each patient with personal examination and consultation by the director of the clinic.
The therapeutic decision is made by a multidisciplinary team including maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, prosthodontist and if necessary plastic surgeons and E.N.T. surgeons. Every patient receives detailed explanations before, during and after the surgery regarding the surgical procedure and the pre- and post-operative management (Diet, Pain, Weight, Hygiene).
The surgical treatments that are performed include: advancement, setback, impaction, down fracture of the jaws or malar bone, bone grafting and osteogenesis distraction. Every year about 350 patients are examined in this clinic. 125 patients were treated surgically. |
