The clinical activities of the Urology Department at the Sheba Medical Center include all urological sub-specialties: Uro-Oncology, Reconstructive Urology, Endo-Urology, Female Urology, Pediatric Urology and Andrology. All the current and up-to-date uro-surgical procedures are performed, including up-to-date Laparoscopic Techniques.
The department is academically affiliated with the Sackler School of Medicine at the Tel Aviv University and our entire senior staff holds faculty positions. There are six residents in active training.
The academic activity includes three on-going international clinical trials as well as several Prostate Cancer research projects in collaboration with the Weizmann Institute of Science and the Tel Aviv University.
Our activity in Urologic-Oncology includes the application of novel surgical techniques for urologic malignancies, such as seed implant (Brachytherapy) and Cryotherapy in localized and recurrent Prostate Cancer, Laparoscopic Resection of Cancer in the kidney and Endoscopic Resection of Cancer in the ureter/kidney.
We are also involved with a variety of cutting edge clinical trials in superficial Bladder Cancer, Prostate Cancer and Kidney Cancer.
We have strong research ties to the cancer research centers at the Weizmann Institute and Tel Aviv University.

Director - Prof. Jacob Ramon

Prof. Jacob Ramon was born in 1953. He completed his M.D. studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1983). Prior to his medical studies he served as a pilot in the IAF.
Prof. Ramon completed his internship and urology residency at Sheba Medical Center, Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University.
During his residency at Sheba he undertook a Fellowship (1989) in Neurourology and Urodynamics at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. After completing his residency he assumed a Clinical Fellowship in Uro-Oncology and Reconstructive Urology at Clinique St. Jean, in Toulouse (1990), and Bichat Hospital in Paris, France (1992).
Since September 1995 he has been the Director of the Department of Urology at the Sheba Medical Center, where he developed one of the most active Urology Programs in the Country, with Emphasis on Uro-Oncological and Reconstructive Surgery and Laparascopic and Endourological Surgery.
Prof. Ramon is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Tel Aviv University. He is an active member in national and international urological associations. |
