Andrology Unit - Including The Male Fertility Laboratory and The Semen Cryobank

The Andrology Unit, which includes the Male Fertility Laboratory
and the Semen Cryobank, is involved with the following laboratory activities:

  • Complete range of semen analysis according to WHO Guidelines.
  • Semen improvement treatments required by patients of the Semen Cryobank.
  • Histological analysis of Testis Tissue.
  • Various procedures of Testicular Sperm Retrieval (TESE, TESA, MESA).
  • Over 1000 surgery interventions in combination with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) were carried out in 2003, resulting in about 25% successful pregnancies.
  • Semen Cryobank provides services to various populations either looking for sperm donations, or seeking to preserve their fertility potential throughout hazardous conditions including medical and/or occupational conditions, or personal reasons.
  • The laboratory undertakes various research projects in collaboration with foreign laboratories, including genetic analysis of semen cells.
