Oncological Imaging and Cross-Sectional Imaging Section of The Division of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging at Sheba Medical Center conducts thoracic, abdominal, Trauma, and skeletal imaging.
Thoracic Imaging: In cooperation with the section of Thoracic Imaging, scanning of the chest is performed for the diagnostic work-up of both chronic and acute illnesses of the lungs, Pleura and Mediastinum, as well as for staging, evaluation of response to treatment, and short and long term follow up.
CT Angiography for the detection of vascular conditions, such as Aortic Aneurysm, Aortic Dissection and Pulmonary Embolism is performed with the cooperation of the sections of Thoracic Imaging and Interventional Radiology.
Evaluation of Coronary Artery Calcification is provided with the cooperation of the Dr. Shemesh of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Institute.
Abdominal Imaging: Scanning of the abdomen and pelvis is performed for evaluation of acute and chronic abdominal pain, staging of tumors, evaluation of response to treatment as well as short and long term follow up, work up fevers of unknown origin, abdominal abscesses, abnormalities of the genitourinary and digestive tracts and the retroperitoneum. Virtual Colonoscopy for the detection of tumors is also offered.
Trauma: Rapid total body scanning is performed in the setting of acute Trauma as well as follow-up imaging of previously detected injuries.
Skeletal Imaging: Evaluation of orthopedic conditions such as traumatic injury, infection, and benign and malignant conditions is performed.
Conferences: Weekly conferences of the section include Oncology, Hematology, Gastroenterology, Surgery and Internal Medicine.
Research: Presentations at national and international conferences, articles have been submitted and accepted to internationally recognized journals by several members of the staff. Research projects are ongoing with the cooperation of the Departments of Oncology, Hematology, Gastroenterology and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Institute.
