There are three branches of the Israeli Tissue Bank at Sheba Medical Center: Bone Bank, Eye Bank, and the Heart Valve Bank:
Bone Bank: The Tissue Graft - Alograft; Alografts use for transplantation of whole bone blocks or their small parts and tendons in orthopaedcs and neurosurgery in cases of diseases or Trauma. Eye Bank: The Tissue Graft – Cornea;
- Cornea grafts
- Sclera tissue
- Amniotic membrane tissue.
Use in ophthalmologic surgery in cases of Trauma, Inflammation or wrong shape of cornea.
Heart Valve Bank: The tissue Graft – Homograft; Use in opened heart surgery for heart valve replacement.
Parathyroid glands stock provides cryopreservation of this tissue for the Autoimmuno-Transplantation.
Tissue is received with consent of the families for organ and tissue donation. The Israeli Tissue Bank provides service to all hospitals of Israel and partly to other countries, supplies tissue grafts according to international standards of European Tissue Bank Association and American Tissue Bank Association. |
