The Pediatric Infectious Disease Unit of the Sheba Medical Center is known throughout Israel for the quality of its clinical, educational and research programs. Our aim is to constantly provide high quality specialized consulting services blended with compassionate care and leading edge technology to meet the needs of our patients. Our efforts are geared to integrate clinical care, education, and research to advance the health status of children, their families and their communities. We strive to provide a full range of state-of-the-art pediatric care.
We offer diagnostic and therapeutic services to the general children's wards at the Sheba Medical Center including pediatric surgical wards, Hemato-Oncology, the premature nursery, ICU, and to all the children hospitalized at the Sheba Medical Center.
Through our outpatient clinic, we advise and follow-up on all cases of children suffering from immune deficiencies as well as children with acute chronic infectious diseases and pregnant women with acquired infectious diseases during their pregnancy.
We initiate, promote and take part in national and international studies on Immunization, Influenza, Pathogenesis of Streptococcal Infections, and clinical trials of Antibiotics in different stages of development. We are actively involved in the education and supervision of antibiotic use within the hospital and the community and set local policy on the subject of the educated use of antibiotics.
We also provide ongoing supervision of the use of antibiotic areatments and the resistance of bacteria to antibiotic treatment.
One of our current objectives, due to the increase of antibiotic resistance of common pathogens in the community as well as in the hospital is creating an on-going database to be available to physicians within the community and private practice.
