Ayala Shapira Ascends Temple Mount

12 year-old terror victim fulfills dream of visiting Judaism's holiest site in honor of her Bat Mitzvah.

Twelve year-old terror victim Ayala Shapira ascended the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on Sunday morning, in honor of her bat mitzvah, a ceremony signifying her coming of age and taking responsibility for her own observance of the Jewish commandments.

Shapira stated in her first public interview in March that it was her dream to ascend the Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, in honor of the special day.

The then eleven year-old was critically burned in a firebomb attack by Arab terrorists on the family car she was in with her father outside Ma'ale Shomron in Samaria late last December. The attack left her suffering from severe burns to 40% of her face and upper body.

After a lengthy stay at the Sheba's Burns Center, she is now in hospitalized in the pediatric rehabilitation department of Sheba's Edmond and Lily Safra Children's Hospital as she continues her road to recovery.
