Corona: Zero Contact Medical Care

Sheba answers your questions.

Corona: Zero Contact Medical Care

Q: What kind of care do corona patients receive?

A: The care is mostly supportive, i.e., reducing fever and providing fluids. According to the severity of the illness, patients may receive oxygen, respiratory aid, and support for body functions via medication or devices. There do exist medications meant to kill the virus; however, their efficacy has yet to be proven. In Israel, these medications are prescribed according to the condition of the patient and to the recommendations of the Infectious Diseases medical team.

The medical staff working in the corona ICU are able to check up on patients who are in isolation with a series of technological means that work from a distance and with zero contact:

Uniper: A technological system that enables communication with patients in isolation. The system works with TV screens for both personal and group video calls, and can also be used to access activities and content.

EarlySense: A system that monitors pulse, respiration and movement via sensors installed in the hospital beds. The system utilizes artificial intelligence and can alert staff to a possible deterioration in the patient's condition.

Tytocare: A device for patient self-examination of throat, ears, heart, lungs, and provision of vital signs with distance monitoring.

Datos: An app that allows patients to perform various tests and to document the results.

Ambulatory robot: Enables medical staff to conduct treatment from a distance.
