Getting Back to Life: A New Rehabilitation Center in Sheba for War Casualties
Rehabilitation Hospital Director: "We'll be there to embrace and support the injured, not just throughout their long recovery process, but for the rest of their lives as well."
A rehabilitation center was inaugurated today in Sheba with the primary goal of providing comprehensive care and rehabilitation services to people injured in the war. The facility boasts 36 rehab beds and is ready to scale up its capacity to accommodate more wounded individuals as and when required.
At today's ceremony, in the presence of Michal Herzog, the wife of the President of the State of Israel, Professor Yitshak Kreiss, the Director of Sheba Medical Center, eloquently stated, "In many ways, the story of this facility is the story of our country. Our mission is to help return you to a life full of meaning, and to propel Israel forward towards prosperity, and strengthen us as a resilient, thriving nation."
During the ceremony, Prof. Amitai Ziv, Director of the Integrated Rehabilitation Hospital, shared that “rehabilitation will be the biggest national challenge in the State of Israel in the coming decades, and that the journey of the injured and their families has only just begun. We will be here for them, embracing and standing by their side and supporting them throughout the lengthy rehabilitation process and the rest of their lives.”
"Adjusting to the new realities of life after a battle injury takes time, it is a process," explained Attorney Idan Kalman, Chairman of the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization. "That's why the initial therapeutic framework that an injured person enters becomes critically important. Departments like the newly opened Rehabilitation Center in Sheba for War Casualties provide the vital support and care these individuals need. We encourage other hospitals to follow suit and operate in a similar way.”
