Follow-up clinic for BRCA carriers
Our clinic was set up with the goal of bringing together care and support for women at high risk of breast and ovarian cancer (whether healthy or with a history of cancer). This group includes women who have undergone testing and been identified as carriers of mutations in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene. The clinic offers women a structured follow-up plan, considering their unique needs, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that provides a supportive network in the decision-making process.
The follow-up program at the clinic consists of the following:
- Twice a year, a breast surgeon examination.
- Once or twice a year, a gynecological examination, which includes a vaginal ultrasound and a blood test for the CA-125 marker.
- Once a year, alternating between MRI, ultrasound, and mammography for breast imaging.
- Genetic counseling and guidance provided by an oncogeneticist.
- Consultation and referral to specialists in plastic surgery, fertility preservation, oncology, and gynecological oncology.
