Forbes Publishes Israel’s Best Doctors List 2024

For the second year in a row, Sheba has topped Forbes’ annual list of Israel’s leading medical professionals, boasting 202 specialists. This achievement comes alongside Sheba Medical being ranked 9th worldwide by NEWSWEEK magazine in January, placing it among prestigious international institutions like Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic.

The Forbes 2024 ranking highlights 186 specialties, singling out 1,386 doctors from across Israel’s medical centres and hospitals. Sheba Medical Center shines in nearly half of these categories.

Some of the areas where our physicians excelled this year:

Rehabilitation - 38% of the best rehabilitation doctors in Israel work at Sheba. We’re proud of setting up the "Returning to Life National Cener for Psychological Trauma Victims" during the Swords of Iron war, providing professional and compassionate care to hundreds of soldiers, women, and victims of October 7. 

Internal Medicine - Sheba's internal departments boast 25% of Israel's top internal medicine doctors. This achievement is very gratifying, especially considering Sheba's significant investment and our strong focus on patient experience in our internal wards, where we treat seriously ill and complex cases.

Heart and thoracic surgery - about a quarter of Israel’s top surgeons in this surgical specialty work at Sheba.

Cancer medicine - Sheba ranks first among Israel’s hospitals with 10 oncologists on the list and another 12 experts in hematology.

Gynaecology, midwifery, and fertility - Sheba remains the leader again this year, with 20% of the top doctors in these specialties being from Sheba

How is the Best Doctors in Israel list compiled?

The Forbes Best Doctors in Israel list, now published for the tenth year, is based on recommendations given by doctors about their peers. For the purpose of this list, a comprehensive peer review was conducted, to which Forbes adds hundreds of new doctors each year. One reason the magazine insists on increasing the number of recommending doctors is to minimise any possible biases based on prior acquaintance and the like. Forbes also ensures fairness by allowing only one recommendation per colleague from the same medical institution.
