Sheba topped NEWSWEEK's list for the seventh year in a row.

30-04-2025

Sheba Medical Center has climbed to 8th place in Newsweek's rankings of the best hospitals in the world. This ongoing rise shows just how much Israel's healthcare system is valued by the international medical community. It’s also a reminder that healthcare has the power to bring people together, rising above differences. This is the seventh consecutive year Sheba has secured a top spot in this prestigious ranking, proudly representing Israel on the global stage.

During the war, Sheba has played a key role in providing care for the wounded, supporting both their physical and emotional recovery. This year, the organization has also taken on significant national challenges in public healthcare while driving innovation through its ARC platform. With a vision of creating an AI-powered medical center, Sheba is revolutionizing healthcare in Israel and globally.

The treatment of thousands of war casualties - both physical and psychological - has transformed the medical center into a cornerstone of resilience for Israeli society. The "Getting Back to Life" center, set up after the war began, has already helped hundreds of people injured in the "Iron Swords" war. Many others are receiving treatment at the National Center for Mental Trauma. Through its efforts, Sheba Medical Center is leading the way in healing and recovery, helping Israeli society rebuild and move forward.

Prof. Yitshak Kreiss, Director of Sheba Medical Center: “As a cornerstone of Israeli identity and the heart of the public healthcare system, we’re committed to tackling the country’s health and social challenges, supporting everyone who needs us, and constantly raising the bar. We’re excited to keep driving economic growth, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, and investing in long-term research and development. Healthcare has a vital role to play in fueling the Israeli economy and building partnerships that promote regional prosperity.”

How is the ranking determined?

Newsweek's ranking of the world's best hospitals is based on comparative data, including how healthcare organizations operate, their quality and safety measures, patient feedback, scientific research, and medical innovations. This creates a global standard of excellence.

The prestigious ranking is conducted by global data company Statista. Sheba Medical Center ranks 8th alongside leading hospitals worldwide, including Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Toronto General, Charité in Germany, and more.

The selection process is based on achievements in research, medical treatment, and innovation, as well as recommendations received in an international survey conducted among 85,000 doctors, hospital managers, and healthcare professionals. It also includes patient satisfaction surveys and an index evaluating various quality and safety parameters in care.

The best hospitals in the world are selected from among 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries, including the United States, Germany, Japan, France, Italy, Colombia, Brazil, Australia, and more.

This year, for the first time, the magazine is publishing local ranking tables for each of the 30 countries included, giving each hospital an overall score out of 100. In Israel, Sheba ranks first by a significant margin with a score of 92.71%.
