Pediatric Stem Cell Research Institute

The Pediatric Stem Cell Research Institute serves as a conduit between fundamental and applied research, striving to advance groundbreaking treatments for incurable diseases in children. We achieve these goals through:

1. Translating foundational discoveries in stem cell research into practical applications in cell therapy and regenerative medicine, with a particular focus on addressing kidney diseases and metabolic disorders.
2. Pioneering innovative approaches in cancer treatment by targeting cancer stem cells.
3. Establishing a research ecosystem that promotes interdisciplinary collaborations between clinicians and scientists and nurtures physician-researchers.

Research activities

  • Isolation and characterization of stem cells from human kidney tissue for the treatment of kidney diseases.
  • Isolation and characterization of cancer stem cells from renal origin for the treatment of kidney cancer.
  • Isolation of endothelial progenitor cells for the treatment of diseases associated with vascular pathology.
  • Measurement of endothelial progenitor levels in peripheral blood and testing the correlation with clinical conditions.
