The "RAD Data Communications" Company Contributes Computerized System to the Psychiatric Department at Sheba Medical Center
An advanced computer system, a 42" Plasma television and special furniture to house the system were donated by Rad Computers Communication to the computer room of the Psychiatric Division of Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer. The room serves as an occupational rehabilitation center for all the in-patient and out-patient departments of the division. The new system is geared to enable patients (aged 18 and over) to prepare artistic creations on the computer and even present them for all to see on the large screen.
According to Ronit Naveh, responsible for the division's computer room, the new system will serve as a treatment tool that will help patients express their emotions and improve their cognitive skills as well as for entertainment purposes such as screening movies in their free time.
"Accumulating knowledge, experience and work habits in a computerized environment will also improve the possibilities for integration into the job market," says Naveh. "Working on the computer increases the feeling of being connected to the outside world, helps improve the self-confidence of the patients and will encourage them to create and to gain, with the help of the system, an important and significant expression to their work."
