Israeli woman gives birth after ovary transplant
For the first time in the world, a cancer patient has given birth after undergoing (at Sheba) a transplant of ovarian tissue that had been taken from her body and preserved by freezing. This global breakthrough was reported around the world (see articles below) on June 27, 2005, the day that the patient gave birth.
Behind the stunning medical advance are Prof. Jehoshua Dor, Dr. Dror Meirow and Dr. Jacob Levron of Sheba's IVF Fertility Unit in the Joseph Buchman Gynecology and Maternity Center.
