Sheba and Florida Hospital to Cooperate in Clinical Treatment, Medical Education and Research

 

The Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer and the Florida Hospital today (21.03.11) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for international collaboration and strategic relations.

 

Working together, the eight-campus Florida Hospital and the Sheba Medical Center will leverage their unique strengths, experience and perspectives in delivering and improving patient care both in their respective communities and internationally.

The objectives of the new strategic collaboration are t

  • Work together to improve clinical outcomes and the quality of care for patients internationally
  • Work together to implement projects that answer important clinical and patient care questions
  • Advance robotic and minimally invasive surgery global training and education initiatives
  • Identify and develop clinical best practices that can be shared with both hospital systems
  • Become an incubator and demonstration site for new ideas and approaches to improve patient management and care utilizing new technologies and procedures

 

Among the areas of collaboration under discussion are: multi-specialty robotic surgical training and education; medical simulation; patient safety; stem cell transplant clinical strategies; pediatric palliative care and hospice medical research; hematology and oncology research and clinical trials, and more.

 

Signing the accord were Lars Houmann, President & CEO of Florida Hospital, Anthony Nicholson, Board Chair of the Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement at Florida Hospital, Sherrick T. Wassel of the Nicholson Center, Prof. Zeev Rotstein, Director of the Sheba Medical Center, and Prof. Shlomo Noy, Vice President for Research and Development and Academic Affairs at Sheba.

 

Witnessing the signing was Mayor Buddy Dyer of Orlando, Florida, who is heading an Orlando Trade and business development mission to Israel.
