4 minute film- The Zabludowicz Center for Autoimmune Diseases
The Zabludowicz Center for Autoimmune Diseases at the Sheba Medical Center uniquely centralizes under one roof all aspects of autoimmune research, treatment, and medical training. It brings together doctors and scientists from multidisciplinary fields such as internal medicine, clinical immunology, autoimmunity, rheumatology, ophthalmology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology.
Autoimmune diseases afflict an estimated 20 percent of the population. These diseases result from a dysfunctional immune system in which the body attacks its own organs, tissues and cells. Autoimmune diseases include rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes, Crohn's disease, lupus, and about 80 other syndromes.
In cooperation with medical partners around the world, the Center for Autoimmune Diseases at Sheba is at the forefront of advanced research in the field, in particular in the development of biological drugs for autoimmune diseases. Many international conferences are held at the center every year, allowing Sheba doctors to share their knowledge and learn from their colleagues abroad - for the benefit of Sheba patients.
