American Award to Dr. Raz Somech

The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) has awarded its 2012 International Young Investigator Award to Dr. Raz Somech of Sheba. The award was bestowed on March 2 in Orlando, Florida at the Academy's annual meeting. Dr. Somech is director of the pediatric immunology laboratory and the Jeffery Modell Foundation Center for Primary Immunodeficiency at the Edmond and Lily Safra Children's Hospital at the Sheba Medical Center. He is also the star of the Academy Award-nominated 2010 documentary film, "Precious Life," about the treatment at Sheba of a Palestinian child with a rare immunological disease. Dr. Chaim Roifman of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada recommended Dr. Somech for the award.
