Israeli President Shimon Peres Congratulates Sheba Global Donors
"I am no less excited to meet you than, perhaps, you are to meet me," President Peres said. "My association with Sheba goes back almost 60 years, since the time I was an aide to the Minister of Defense when the hospital became a civilian facility. I have strong ties to and sentiments for the Sheba Medical Center!" he said. 'I salute and admire all of you for contributing to this very important and central institution in the national life of Israel."
Sheba friends and supporters from eight countries were in the delegation that accompanied hospital director Prof. Zeev Rotstein to meet Mr. Peres in Jerusalem, including friends from Austria, Britain, China, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
Prof. Zeev Rotstein (in the photos, seated next to President Peres) said that "at the Sheba Medical Center we are practicing peace and coexistence on a daily basis. We are trying to be an example to the world. Medicine is an international language, and our message is clear: We are bridge to people's hearts."
