Prof. Amit Segev appointed Director of the Olga and Lev Levaiev Hear Center
Professor Amit Segev has been appointed as the new director of the Heart Center, replacing the previous director, Professor Michael Eldar who has been in charge since 2000 and recently retired.
Prof. Segev is a specialist in Interventional Cardiology who served as the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Services and Deputy Director of The Heart Center.
Prof. Segev, 49 years old, did his residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Meir Medical Center in Kfar-Saba and did an Interventional Cardiology fellowship at St. Michael's Hospital affiliated to University of Toronto in Canada in 2002-2004. In 2004 he joined Sheba Medical Center as a senior interventional cardiologist. During the years 2011-2015 he was the Secretary General of the Israeli Heart Society and he is currently a committee member of the Interventional Cardiology council of the Israeli Heart Society.
Segev is an appointed Professor and Lecturer at the Tel Aviv University Medical School,has published over 100 papers and book chapters and he is an eminent lecturer on Cardiology in Israel and around the world.
Prof. Segev specializes in all aspects of Interventional Cardiology including: cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary interventions, valvular interventions, carotid artery stenting, subclavian stenting.
Prof, Segev commented his appointment: "It is a huge honor for me to take upon the management of such a prestigious cardiac division as the Sheba Medical's Heart Center. My mission is to do everything I can to promote and enable the best treatment for heart patients both in the professional aspect and in the human aspect".
