30-03-2016

Tel Hashomer Medical Research, Infrastructure and Services Ltd. – the technology transfer and commerce company of the Sheba Medical Center, Boston Scientific, MEDX Ventures Group and the Intellectual Ventures Company won the tender to operate the Chief Scientist's technological incubators as part of the MEDX Group and the MEDX XELERATOR incubator. The new incubator will start to be operational within the next few months.

The incubator is specialized in the field of medical equipment and digital medicine and was founded in exceptional and close cooperation built by four partners over a long period of time: the investment company MEDX Ventures Group, Tel Hashomer Medical Research, Infrastructure and Services Ltd., as well as the international company Boston Scientific Corporation – one of the world's leading companies for medical equipment, and Intellectual Ventures, a company specialized in creating innovations in a wide variety of fields, including medical equipment, based on a network of very special and quality investors.

With the completion of this tender, the process of choosing 19 franchisees from five competitive procedures that took place during the past years drew to a close. Many of the institutions involved in the tender are international investment funds and huge international companies such as Huchison, IBM, Strauss, Medtronic, Albit Systems, as well as the pharmacology companies Takeda and Johnson & Johnson.

Tel Hashomer Ltd. is a substantial research and clinical branch of the Israeli biomed industry. Winning the franchise in the incubator tender strengthens the importance of cooperation between the industry and a research/clinical branch that has basic and clinical research infrastructure, medical know-how and regulation in order to translate and advance an idea into a medical product.

Tel Hashomer Ltd. and the Sheba Medical Center will operate in the framework of the incubator to develop and advance start-up companies, use their accessibility to research infrastructures and know-how, and set up a broad connection network with partners and potential customers aimed at introducing new technological products into the international market.

Tel Hashomer Ltd.'s tender win goes in tandem with the vision of the Sheba Medical Center to be a leader in scientific and technological breakthroughs in a variety of medical fields that will take place in generations to come: in cardiology, oncology, neuro-science, women's diseases and gynecology, genetics and more.

Prof. Shlomo Noy, acting director of the Sheba Medical Center remarked, "The fact that international companies choose to cooperate with the Sheba Medical Center teaches us that in today's biotech world you must combine money with know-how, laboratory and development infrastructure as well as clinical premises. We are proud to provide our know-how, accumulated experience and advanced infrastructure for future developments in the medical field."
