Annual Charity Gala of the Friends of the Sheba Medical Center in Germany
For the 24th time, the German Sheba Friends and their honorary president, former First Lady Eva Luise Koehler, invited to their annual charity gala at the Reichstagspraesidentenpalais in Berlin this month. The event was held under the patronage of Martin Zeil, former Bavarian Minister for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology. MK Isaac Herzog, Leader of the Opposition and Chairman of the Labor Party, HE Yakov Hadas-Handelsman, ambassador of Israel to Germany, and Prof. Shlomo Noy, acting director of the Sheba Medical Center attended as guests of honor.
German Sheba Friends president Judit Edelstein welcomed the guests and thanked the devoted board members, Eva Luise Koehler talked briefly about her personal and warm relationship with the hospital, and MK Isaac Herzog was interviewed on stage by Richard C. Schneider, former ARD (Germany's first chanel) office head and chief correspondent in Tel Aviv during 2005-2015.
Prof. Noy talked about Sheba's achievements in 2015 and made the pitch for the charity auction to benefit the hospital. A variety of art, medical items, as well as "fun" items came under the hammer of Christiane Graefin zu Rantzau, director Christie's Germany – such as couture, jewelry, VIP packages, etc. The international Opera-Pop-Trio Kol Esperanza from Israel entertained and enthused the guests with their wonderful performance and voices.
Delightful bar music brought even the most hesitant guests to the dance floor till way past midnight. The evening can be described in three short words: successful, elegant and entertaining.
