Thank you letter

To the Geriatric Rehabilitation Department at the Sheba Medical Center

To the Geriatric Rehabilitation Department at the Sheba Medical Center

No one really believed that I would return to normal.

I was diagnosed with a severe CVA and the outlook was bleak.

I lay like a log with only my thoughts running around:

What do I do now? How does one carry on? Is this the life I can expect?

And you handed me the only two crutches in this world that can truly move mountains:

Hope and Love.

You knew, from experience, that the chance of me being able to move my left hand again was close to nonexistent; between yourselves you murmured that apparently I would never stand on my own two legs again without assistance,

And yet,

All of you, without exception,

Did everything in your power and made every supreme effort in order to turn that tiny possibility into reality.

And thanks to you, the wonder occurred.

Today, because of you, I am able to walk with a walker and can even manage short distances without.

Because of your encouragement, dedicated treatment, the warmth and affection you showered upon me; because of your determination, enthusiasm at any small sign of progress I made; because you safeguarded my dignity, respected the sick & ailing, and respected my elderly self; because of the surprise and joy reflected in your eyes when I made progress well beyond the expected forecast.

The open hearted and charming auxiliary staff, the angelic nurses, the dedicated occupational therapists and physiotherapists, the skilled physicians, the cleaning staff. You were all my partners on this journey and you deserve the glory.

The stroke may have damaged my brain, but my heart has greatly expanded since then, because the knowledge that there exists such a Department in Israel and such people, proves that humanity can conquer anything.

Thank you,

My everlasting love to you,

Natan Moskovitz and Family
