Inauguration of New Gardens at Sheba Medical Center’s Hospice

17-08-2017

On June 29th, Sheba Medical Center’s hospice unveiled its colorful new outdoor gardens.
These flowery spaces elicit a calming effect, which assists terminally ill patients’ well-being and quality of life, which is one of the main goals of the hospice.
Within the hospice itself, every effort is made to provide terminally ill patients with comfortable surroundings during the final phase of their lives.
The new gardens were inspired by the generosity of Hayuta Bahat Skayan. She dedicated the gardens in the memory of her parents, Shoshana and Yaakov Bohomel. The late Mr. Bohomel was a patient at the Sheba hospice, over 30 years ago. His daughter, Hayuta, stood by his side when he passed away. She was moved emotionally and impressed with the humanity and the quality of care provided by Sheba professionals to her father.
To express her gratitude, she wanted to dedicate something in memory of her father, as well as acknowledge the incredible work of the hospice staff.
The new gardens will enable the patients, their relatives and the professionals around them to relax and recharge their batteries during difficult times.
Even as death is approaching, the colorful gardens express nature’s living, eternal beauty, which is the essence of Sheba’s vision for the hospice.
