Yoel Hareven, (M.H.A, Ph.D) VP of Global Affairs
Lieutenant Colonel Yoel Hareven served in the Israel Defense Forces for 28 years - starting out as a front line Combat Nurse and rapidly ascending through all levels of command, to reach the position of Assistant to the Surgeon General. He retired from the army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Mr. Hareven earned a B.A in Nursing from the Hebrew University Hadassah School of Nursing in Jerusalem and a Master of Health Administration degree from the Ben Gurion University of the Negev. He went on to earn a Master of Neuroscience degree from Tel Aviv University Sagol School of Neuroscience and has just recently completed his PhD in Business Administration also from the Ben Gurion University of the Negev.
His research has focused on studying the performance outcomes of large health management systems in general and developing models for delivering healthcare in particular. Likewise, he is partner to research on the topic of disaster medicine and humanitarian medicine.
Throughout his long and distinguished army career in the Israel Defense Forces he treated countless injured and wounded combatants on the battle field. These highly honed skills were deployed also within the framework of the numerous Israel Defense Forces Humanitarian Relief Missions he joined as a team member, amongst them: The field hospital established to treat citizens of the Rwanda civil war (1994); the field hospital established to treat citizens of the Balkan civil war (1999); the field hospital established to treat the earthquake victims in India (2001); and as Deputy Commander of the IDF field hospital established to treat the earthquake victims in Nepal (2015).
Mr. Hareven is married to Anat and is father to four children.
