Honoring Sheba’s women of excellence
Sheba will mark International Women’s Day 2018, by honoring some of our talented female staff members.
In a special ceremony to take place on March 8th at 12 noon in Sheba’s Beit Sourasky Center, certificates of excellence will be presented to six honorees, from various sectors in the hospital, for performing their duties with maximum professionalism, caring and concern for patient welfare.
A unique Sheba story will be shared by the Sarova family, who have the distinction of having three generations working at Sheba. Matriarch, Dr. Isa Sarova helped found Sheba’s Neurological Department; her daughters Prof. Anat Achrion and Prof. Orit Hamiel, serve as the Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Center and Director of Endocrinology Unit at Edmond and Lily Safra Children's Hospital respectively. Now a third generation has chosen Sheba to start their careers in medicine. Dr. Assaf Achiron studied medicine at Sheba and Dr. Uri Hamiel is currently a pediatric intern at Assaf Harofeh.
The talents of Sheba women are not confined to the medical sphere. By profession, Prof. Sharon Hassin is the Director of the Institute for Movement Disorders at Sheba, and in her spare time she’s a jazz singer. These two areas of her life will come together as she performs at the upcoming gathering.
The culmination of the event will be the launch of a new special edition magazine created especially to salute the women of Sheba. This glossy magazine, titled “Women’s Power” presents the stories of 82 women working throughout Sheba and serves as a testament to the contribution made by the thousands of women working at the medical center.
Finally, comedian, Odeya Koren will share her unique perspective in what promises to be an unmissable standup performance.
