"Project Arrow" Targets Ethiopian High Schoolers

Sheba Medical Center continued its outreach to the Ethiopian community within the context of the hospital’s first-of-its-kind “Project Arrow” program. Under the tutelage of Dr. Eldad Katorza, Senior Physician within the Ultrasonic OB/GYN Imaging Unit at the Josef Buchmann Gynecology and Maternity Center, “Project Arrow” empowers both American and Israeli medical students to increase their knowledge by integrating themselves into Sheba’s worldrenowned research programs.

For the first time, “Project Arrow” also welcomed a select group of high school students from the Ethiopian community to participate in the program. Sheba is the only hospital in Israel that has provided grants to Ethiopian students who endeavor to learn alongside other medical students and gain invaluable experience even before entering the medical field, all while being mentored by Sheba’s top doctors and research scientists.

At “Project Arrow’s” inaugural ceremony, Prof. Yitshak Kreiss, Sheba’s Director General, who was instrumental in providing the grants to the Ethiopian high school students remarked, “I have no doubt that will you will not only succeed, but also strive to make a real impact on Israeli society. We are proud to have you become a part of the ‘spirit of Sheba’, which is the foundation of our success in Israel and around the world.”
