Established in 1960, the Child Development Center at Sheba, headed by Dr. Omer Bar-Yosef, is a preeminent institution in Israel. The Center excels in diagnosing, treating, training, and conducting research on children, ranging from newborns to 18-year-olds, who encounter developmental obstacles.

The Center provides support for both boys and girls with a diverse range of needs. These include movement disorders like cerebral palsy, social-emotional disorders such as autism, attachment issues between infants, children and parents, behavioral and emotional problems like attention and concentration issues, encopresis, selective mutism, sleeping and eating difficulties, and developmental delays that impact multiple areas, and more.

The therapeutic approach at the Centre is truly multidisciplinary, bringing together top experts and expertise from various fields. Our team includes professionals from medicine, psychology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, communication clinics, social work, movement therapy, and nutrition. The institute boasts a team of over 100 highly skilled and experienced professionals who are experts in the most advanced treatment and diagnosis approaches, not just in Israel but worldwide. Approximately 50,000 diagnostic and treatment sessions are conducted at our Center ever year.

The Center operates a research center which is involved in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying developmental issues, with a special focus on autism. We are committed to exploring innovative treatment options, such as cord blood treatment for children with cerebral palsy and autism, alongside innovative multidisciplinary treatment modalities of the health professions.

We engage in research that explores the links between risk factors, treatment methods, and their outcomes. We do this by applying advanced data analysis methods that leverage the Child Development Center’s database which encompasses a vast data pool of 10,000 children. All studies adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Helsinki Committee, ensuring the utmost confidentiality and protection of participant information.

The Center incorporates a training and learning center on child development issues for professionals and families - a leader in its field. We also regularly host courses, professional trainings, conferences, seminars, and run an online information center.

The Child Development Center offers a comprehensive solution for families. The goal of our multidisciplinary therapeutic solutions is to promote children and enable them to reach their full potential and integrate completely within the community. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, especially children with developmental challenges.
