Research topic

Identification of human adult kidney progenitor cells.

Biography

Ella Buzhor, PhD student in the stem cells research, has graduated B.Sc.Pharm Summa Cum Laude at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2002, completed her M.Sc. studies in cardiac stem cell research at Tel Aviv University, Israel, and graduated in 2006. Currently focuses her efforts in kidney stem cell research. Her main focus is the development of novel approaches for the isolation and characterization of kidney-derived stem and progenitor cells. Recently, she has used the unique 'kidney-spheroids' formation assay as a new, effective way to establish populations of human renal progenitors that can function as potential treatment for various kidney diseases. In recent years she has been involved in several original peer-reviewed papers in the stem cell research literature. Has received the award for 'best lecture' in the 3rd 'Young Stem Cell Investigator' meeting held at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel.
