Prof. Josef Haik is a specialist in Aesthetic & Reconstruction Plastic Surgery and Burns.
He has contributed to chapters in medical textbooks and published numerous articles on Aesthetic plastic, Burns, reconstructions, skin substitutes, wound care and epidemiology. He serves as the medical reviewer for IMAJ, WOUNDS, BURNS as well as a FRONTIERS DISASTER MEDICINE. Also initiated and established the first GMP laboratory for skin engineering and skin bank from 2019.
Prof. Haik has served as Chairman of the Israeli Burn Association for the past five years and is an active member of the EMT Working Group on Burns Care at the World Health Organization (WHO). He joined the IHR to enable greater collaboration between his own research and that being undertaken with the Burn Injury Research Node at the University of Tasmania.
Professor Haik also leaded humanitarian Delegations to Kenya, Peru, Guatemala, Romania, St. Lucia, Haiti and Dominican Republic.
