The Baruch Strassburger Lipid Center Building, Entrance Floor, adjacent to the Hematology Institute (Search for "Lipid Laboratory, Sheba Medical Center” in Waze).
The Lipid Center clinical service lab specializes in blood lipid tests and provides a comprehensive array of tests for diagnosing risk factors for the development of atherosclerosis. The laboratory is supervised by the National Laboratory Accreditation Authority according to the ISO15189 standard. Lipid profile test results are supervised by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States.
In addition to array of tests it provides, the laboratory offers research services in the following areas:
- HPLC carotenoid testing
- Gas chromatography (GC) analysis of fatty acids
- Experiments in transgenic mice in models of atherosclerosis, fatty liver, obesity and Alzheimer's.
- Clinical trials in human beings - Caretonoid absorption, impact of various treatments on the lipid profile.
- Experiments on tissue cultures: foam cell formation, cholesterol and fatty acid syntheses, and cholesterol efflux.
