Neuro Oncology Unit

All types of primary and metastatic malignant brain tumors are treated. Patient care is delivered in collaboration with the Department of Oncology. There are 300 cases treated annually.

Different modes of therapy include: Frame and frameless stereotactic biopsies, image guided surgical removal of tumors, which include the application of intra-operative MRI, and other brain navigation systems.

Clinical studies regarding enhanced convection of antitumoral agents are currently being conducted (local and international cooperation) a Phase 1 study on the MRI guided application of focused ultrasound to Cerebral Malignant Glioma is under way.

The staff includes a coordinating nurse and a social worker.
