Prof. Rami Eliakim has been Professor of Medicine at the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School, where he received his medical training, graduating in 1979. He was head of the Gastroenterology department at Rambam Health Center and then at Sheba Medical Center, and is now a senior physician in the department of gastroenterology in Sheba.
Prof. Eliakim’s research interests span two major areas. The first focuses on IBD animal models, genetics, therapy, and nicotine, while the second area concerns the research, development and clinical applications of various capsule endoscopes (the oesophageal, colonic and Crohn’s capsules). He is the author of over 400 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and books. He is currently the Editor in chief of Therapeutic Advances in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Editorial Board Member of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Journal of Crohn's and Colitis, and the World Journal of Gastroenterology, among others.
