The Advanced Technology Center (ATC) was founded in 1997 with the goal of solidifying Sheba Medical center’s position as a leader in medical technology innovation.
Our mission was to promote fundamental research in medicine for clinical applications through the formation of an interdisciplinary research group, fusing scientific knowledge with the expertise of physicians who understand the clinical needs and limitations of the healthcare system. Facilitating meetings with relevant industries, we transform ideas into products. All of this takes place within the hospital - our natural environment.
Today, development teams comprising doctors, scientists, engineers, and partners from the Israeli industry collaborate under one roof. Together, they work towards the initiation and development of novel medical technologies and products with high applied-commercial potential. This journey spans from the initial idea stage, through animal experiments and human clinical trials, all the way to the commercialization of the idea and the final product.
The Advanced Technology Center is housed in a modern building with an area of approximately 3,500 square meters, connected to the main building of the hospital. The center boasts well-equipped laboratories designed for cell and animal research, a sophisticated laboratory in the field of electro-optics and biology, operating and treatment rooms, two state-of-the-art MRI machines, clinics, outpatient clinics for advanced treatments, offices, and staff rooms.
The meeting room in the center is spacious and modern, connected to the operating rooms and laboratories, as well as to the main operating room of the hospital, by optical fibers. The conference room allows for discussions, work, and remote study via a video conferencing system.
The Advanced Technology Center (ATC) conducts diverse research encompassing a broad spectrum of medical disciplines, with a special emphasis on cancer, brain and skin research. In parallel, the center conducts fundamental and applied research, laboratory experiments, and in vivo experiments, including clinical trials utilizing laboratory equipment and clinical equipment as needed.
