The ultrasound devices employed in the Ultrasound Unit are among the most sophisticated and advanced in the world. These are used to perform a wide range of patient procedures, which include:
1. Examination of the upper abdomen, lower abdomen and pelvis.
2. Examination of kidneys and urinary tract.
3. Follow-up of kidney transplant recipients, including biopsy if required.
4. Examination of superficial organs, including neck: thyroid gland, parathyroid and salivary glands, testicles, skin lesions, monitoring of patients before and after surgery.
5. Ultrasound and Doppler tests of peripheral blood vessels and internal organs, including superficial vein thrombosis, assessment of liver function, assessment of renal artery stenosis in patients with hypertension, assessment of blood flows in TIPPS in the liver, and assessment of vascular malformations.
6. Orthopedic examinations of joints and soft tissues, including the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle, and feet.
7. US-guided biopsies and drainage, fine-needle biopsies, punctures and drainages of a wide variety of organs, including liver, thyroid gland, lymph nodes, skin lesions, fluid accumulation in the pleura and peritoneum; thrombin injection for treatment of post-catheterization of pseudoaneurysm.
8. Special ultrasound procedures can be tailored to specific requests in collaboration with internal medicine specialists, surgeons, plastic surgeons, and urologists. For example, these can be performed in the operating rooms during surgery or while performing invasive procedures in the wards.
The Ultrasound Institute at Sheba is completely accessible to individuals with disabilities, with specially adapted beds for examining them. We have been proudly serving the rehabilitation hospital at our facility for many years.
Our Institute’s team includes three senior doctors and a group of technicians consisting of six seasoned and experienced senior technicians in the field. They are led by the chief technician, Sima Katcherginsky .
Alongside our ongoing work, the unit also conducts training for doctors and radiologists in the field of ultrasound. We prioritize academic activities that encompass continuous learning and research across various ultrasound specialties.
