Experience a groundbreaking service in Israel - manage type 1 diabetes remotely, without the hassles of commuting, traffic, parking, or queues, and benefit from Sheba's expert care, delivered right to you.

If you have type 1 diabetes and use an insulin pump, the Morel 1 virtual clinic offers a convenient and effective solution for you. You simply connect to a dedicated website, share your data with the clinic staff, and receive instructions remotely.

Who is it suitable for?

Individuals aged 18 and above with type 1 diabetes, who use an insulin pump and sensor, or those interested in connecting to these devices. Access to an internet network enabling data sharing is required.

How does it work?

1. During the initial meeting, you'll be introduced to the doctor, nurse, and coordinator. You'll also receive guidance on adjusting the pump settings and sharing remote data.

Where feasible, we aim to have the initial meeting in person for a physical check-up and a practical tech explanation. Shortly after you join the service, you'll speak with a dietician face-to-face or via video, whichever you prefer. Following the first assessment, the team creates a personalised follow-up plan.

2. Starting from the second consultation, the patient connects to a designated encrypted website and downloads the data from the insulin pump, the sensor, and the glucose meter (refer to instructions further down the page).

3. A diabetes specialist reviews the data and gets in touch with the patient via video call, telephone, or correspondence as per the follow-up plan. Following each consultation, the patient receives a summary letter with guidance on diabetes management and adjustments to pump and sensor settings if necessary.

4. Together, we determine the next date for sharing the data.

Is that all? Absolutely not! Our team is available via video and email for any questions or requests, even during the times between data sharing dates. And, of course, you're always welcome for a face-to-face meeting at the clinic when needed.

What are the benefits of the virtual service?

Proven significant improvement in diabetes balance - Following a 3-month follow-up for 36 initial patients, there was a statistically significant improvement glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C) levels by an average of 7.2%. The improvement continued after six months, maintaining a sugar target range of 64 according to the sensor (70-180 mg per dL), without a rise in significant hypoglycemia occurrences.

For most adults with diabetes, the goal is glycated hemoglobin less than 7% and a time in the target range of 65. Consequently, within a short span in the service, the majority of patients reached the target without the need to visit the clinic.

Availability - the service is provided as required, not just during pre-scheduled clinic appointments.

Frequency - follow-ups are more frequent.

Save time - no missing studies or work for clinic visits, no traffic queues, no parking fees, and no waiting in lines.
