The Center of Advanced Technologies in Rehabilitation (CATR) performs research, development and integration of technology and clinical knowledge diagnosis and treatment in the field of rehabilitation. This is a unique multidisciplinary center in Israel and one of the leading in the world, home to collaborations of researchers and clinicians who work in Israel's largest public hospital and utilize of the most advanced technologies available.
Infrastructure: The center achieves its goal by using a range of technologies such as virtual reality, robotics, motion, gait analysis, biological signals analysis, and computer environments assisted rehabilitation.
Research domains related to health, neuroscience, and life sciences:
- Motor learning, sensory-motor-cognitive integration in gait and posture.
- Physiology of gait and vestibular function.
- Pathophysiology of gait and equilibrium disturbances in nervous system disorders.
- Mental, psychological and psychiatric interactions with motor performance, neuroscience and brain cognitive activity.
- Anxiety learning, evaluating and treatments in ecologic life environments.
Research topics related to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) including Physics, Computation and Engineering:
- Complexity in physiological networks – for short and long term physiological processes, based on physiological signal processing data obtained from the various systems.
- Development of miniaturized wearable devices for diagnosis and treatment.
- Technologically based diagnostic, treatment, rehabilitation and tele – rehabilitation tools.
As the largest hospital in Israel, we have readily access to different patients' populations (e.g., neurological, psychiatric, diabetes, orthopedic), and have ongoing collaborations with the clinical leaders in many medical disciplines.
In addition to research work, our center is also involved with development of clinical applications for the rehabilitation hospital. For example, fear of flight treatments as well as balance training for neurological patients, PD patients and the elderly.
