In the Preoperative Clinic, children undergo preparation for surgery throughout the day until around 15:00. The preparation includes nursing reception and guidance, a meeting with a surgeon and an anaesthetist, signing consent forms, and blood tests and imaging as needed.

In the clinic, there's a special learning area for kids aged 3-18, offering emotional support before surgery and guidance for what comes next.  There, children get age-appropriate explanations about the medical procedure they'll undergo, can look up info about it, and chat about their feelings.  Every Thursday, from 11:00 to 12:00, there's a meeting at the clinic for parents whose child is due for surgery, run by an art therapist and a senior nurse. Its purpose is to provide parents with support and tools to help them deal with the challenges of surgery and hospitalization. While this is taking place, female volunteers are at hand to care for the children and keep them engaged.
