• Pregnant women - we now understand that pregnancy is generally safe for the majority of women with congenital heart defects, with only a few exceptional cases where caution is advised. Every woman with a congenital heart defect should be regularly monitored during pregnancy. Usually, one test is performed every trimester, followed by another one a few weeks after birth.
