The Department of Neurological Rehabilitation, established in 1973, has been a leading centre in this field in Israel and around the globe. Affiliated with Tel Aviv University, we provide treatment to patients with neurological impairments and functional limitations. These include spinal cord injury, acquired brain damage (e.g. following a stroke, contusion or tumor), multiple sclerosis, and other medical conditions in which the central or peripheral nervous system has been damaged due to disease or injury.
Our main goals are to provide effective treatment for injuries and prevent medical problems arising from them, improve the daily and independent functioning of patients, fit them with auxiliary equipment and provide guidance to them and those around them in everything related to their injury. We make every effort to help them in returning to their homes, embracing a normal life, and seamlessly integrating into the community.
Our department is staffed by a multi-professional team with extensive experience. This includes doctors specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation, nursing staff, physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and social workers.
Following an initial assessment by our teams, we create a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve your specific goals. If needed, our team of senior consultants, including top doctors at Sheba, are also available to assist you. Furthermore, we are more than happy to arrange a meeting with the department director and other staff members to address any questions you may have. We welcome your comments and suggestions on any matter.
At our department, we offer innovative treatments like electrical or magnetic stimulation aimed at promoting flexibility of the central nervous system (plasticity). Additionally, we provide robotic or computerized technologies to improve limb movement. You can also enjoy services like a gym, gardening and craft workshops, and hydrotherapy in our two therapeutic pools.
Please be aware that in order to begin the rehabilitation process, certain medical conditions may necessitate the use of expensive specialized equipment, such as a wheelchair and seat cushion. We are able to provide these items, but kindly request a cash deposit. Upon return of the equipment undamaged to our department, the deposit will be fully refunded. If any damage or loss occurs to the equipment, the corresponding value will be deducted from the deposit. To arrange the loan of the equipment, please visit our reception office.
